CVS deals for 4/13

I was able to get a few great deals at CVS this week. This was my first time at CVS so I am not entirely sure I was able to do this shop right.
I purchased 2 pantene shampoo's at $3.50 each. I used a coupon and got 2 stylers for free saving me $7.
I purchased 1 tube of colgate toothpaste for $3.99 and used a -$1 coupon.
I purchased 1 soft soap body scrub for $4.49.

I received the following ECB
$ 4 from purchasing the pantene
$ 3.99 for the colgate
$4.49 for the soft soap.

I also used the special coupon machine and recieved a $3 off coupons which I used.

Out of pocket was $11.55
ECB's earned = $12.48

So I came out about $1 ahead not too bad for my first time. You can go to Surviving the Stores for more great deals.

Bank of America Rate increase

Let me just say we are in debt. We are still trying to get over a lay off my husband experienced. We know debt is bad and are actively trying to get out of debt. We have had the card since it was owned by MBNA in 1999. We have never once had a late payment and we always pay more then the minimum. Well imagine my shock when I got a letter today that raised our rate from 7.99% to 20%.

I cannot believe they are allowed to do this. It just pushes me further to pay it off faster and then to NEVER EVER use credit again.

These banks are acting like crooks. I know we are in the wrong for even having debt but we have always played by the rules of the card by paying on time and yet they can do this to customers. So beware if you have not had your rate raised you may soon.

Today I tried Rite Aid for the first time. I went in for the John Frieda deal. Select products were marked down to 4/$20. I had 4 coupons for $2 off each and you get the Single Check Rebate for $10 making my out of pocket $2 or .50 cents each!

Target Deals 4/5- 4/11

Today I tried a target deal I saw on so I Purchased:

one Gillette Series shaving cream for $1.89 -$1 coupon = 0.89 cents.
I also received a $5 target gift card making it only $3 for the razor and shaving cream!

This is one of my best coupon deals to date. I am just learning how to use my coupons to get the best deals!

Envelope system

The plan for the month of February is to use the Dave Ramsey envelope system. I think we are going to just use the system for the categories we most often overspend. So we will have one for groceries, household items and spending money.

I think this will help us the most. We are going to sit down tonight and do a zero dollar budget. This way any money going to pay down debt and money going in to savings will be moved there at the beginning of the month instead of waiting until the end of the month to see if anything is left.

The old system of waiting to see what was left is pretty easy way to never save any money.

So now we will have a plan, have a way to enact the plan and have every hope that we will be able to get into better shape financially.
